Following an intensive 11 months by LNWR Heritage Co Ltd at Crewe the loco moved under its own power this afternoon.
A warming fire was put in on Monday night and following a few teething problems this morning a fire was put in after lunch and steam raised.
Checks were carried out and the safety valves set followed by a couple of gentle trundles up and down in the yard at Crewe with the diesel shunter attached for braking.
A few very few minor jobs need attending to and the boiler surveyor will give the boiler his final exam tomorrow (10/02/16) and then the engine will be ready for its transport down to Bishops Lydeard on the West Somerset Railway.
Transport has been arranged for the Monday the 15th so if you are travelling on the M6 Monday/Tuesday your may well see 44422 in transit.
