90 This Year!

According to 44422’s record card it was built (more likely completed) on the 7th October 1927 which makes it 90 years old this year.

It was built at a cost of £3,217 and with tender number 3459 which cost £1,000.

It was given a life span of 45 years (until 1972) so in October it will have done double the years expected of it in 1927.

As can be seen from the links below from the http://www.wsr.org.uk 44422 is still going strong and doing what it was built for all those years ago – hauling trains.
