West Somerset Railway Spring Gala

The WSR will be holding their spring gala from the 27th of April to the 30th of April.

44422 is scheduled to take part (check with the railway before visiting to ensure it is running on the day).

For the first time in preservation history double headed 4Fs will be possible with the visit of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway’s 4F 43924 for the gala.

44422 is the only left hand drive 4F in preservation. 43924 along with 44123 and 44027 are right hand drive.

43924 is the only Midland Railway 4F, the others being built by the London Midland and Scottish Railway.

44422 has undergone some”winter” maintenance over the closed season and is rostered to start off the 2017 season on the WSR with the 10:10 departure from Minehead on the 11th of March.

For those interested in seeing 44422 from the comfort of their own home, it can be seen on the Railcam website cameras at Minehead and Crowcombe Heathfield. (click here)
